Jay Farner
Jay Farner is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ronin Capital Partners and Director of the Jay Farner Family Foundation, where he helps guide a mission centered on compassion, opportunity, and meaningful community impact.
Inspired in part by his grandfather’s battle with Parkinson’s disease, support for neurodegenerative disease research and care has long been one of the foundation’s core priorities. Alongside funding research, the foundation also supports individuals and families living with neurodegenerative disease by investing in programs and resources that help improve quality of life and strengthen daily support systems.
That same focus on compassion extends to animal welfare. Having had dogs throughout his life, Jay has long valued the companionship and comfort they provide. This has shaped the foundation’s commitment to expanding access to therapy dogs for individuals and families in need, while also supporting efforts aimed at ending kill shelters and improving outcomes for vulnerable animals.
The foundation also supports organizations that create opportunity for children and families, including the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit, with a focus on helping more children across Metro Detroit gain access to swim instruction. Swimming has been an important part of Jay’s life, and this work reflects a belief that every child should have the opportunity to learn an essential life skill that builds confidence and safety.
This same long-term mindset also shapes Jay’s business leadership. At Ronin Capital Partners, he partners with entrepreneurs and operators across real estate, finance, hospitality, sports, technology, and emerging growth companies, combining capital with strategic guidance to help businesses scale thoughtfully and sustainably.
Before launching Ronin Capital, Jay served as Vice Chairman and CEO of Rocket Companies, parent company of Rocket Mortgage, where he helped lead the organization through its 2020 public offering and several record-setting years of growth and profitability. Over more than 27 years, he advanced through leadership roles spanning sales, marketing, product innovation, and executive management, helping shape one of the most recognized brands in financial services.
Today, Jay serves on the boards of DUPR and the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Michigan State University and lives in Metro Detroit.
